Structuring Plans for Operations Strategy Action

The operations system strategic role are being reviewed, motivated by a growing demand for the operations system integration, flexibility and innovation. Generally, the organizations’ strategy is studied in the dimensions of its content and process. The process dimension is frequently related to the formulation process; however, it could be extended to deal with its management process – the operations strategy formulation management process. This paper uses this extended approach to design the strategic operations management system, using the ‘process approach’ fundamentals as the main methodological approach. The research methodology is based on a theoretical framework and the process phases and steps are illustrated by the results obtained from case studies. The main intended result of this paper is the development of an intervening methodology for the operations strategy system implementation, regarding some special characteristics related to: the system integrity; the system strategic coherence; and the system evolution and continuous improvement consistency.
